One of our most popular, best-selling flavors is our Chocolate Drizzle Kettle Corn. You’ve probably heard that dark chocolate is better for you than other kinds of chocolate. What is it about dark chocolate that’s good for your health? It’s loaded with nutrients, as the cocoa tree is one of the best sources of antioxidants on the planet. Here are six health benefits of dark chocolate:

  1. Very Nutritious

The higher the cocoa percentage of the dark chocolate you are eating, the more nutritious the chocolate is. Quality dark chocolate can be full of fiber, iron, magnesium, copper, manganese and a few other minerals.

  1. A Powerful Source of Antioxidants

Dark chocolate is filled with biologically active organic compounds. These compounds function as antioxidants. Cocoa includes a wide variety and large number of antioxidants at a higher amount than most other foods!

  1. Lower Blood Pressure

Although the effects are usually mild, studies have shown cocoa and dark chocolate can improve blood flow and lower blood pressure. This is due to the flavanols in the chocolate which simulate the endothelium.

  1. Reduce Heart Disease Risk

Surprisingly, studies show a fairly significant reduction in heart disease risk among those who consume the most chocolate. The compounds found in cocoa appear to be highly protective against oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL for short).

  1. Protect Your Skin from the Sun

The bioactive compounds in dark chocolate can protect against sun damage, improve blood flow to the skin, and increase skin density and hydration.

  1. Improve Brain Function

One study showed eating high-flavanol cocoa for five days improved blood flow to the brain. It also contains stimulants like caffeine and theobromine.

The rumors are true after all. Now, this doesn’t mean you should go consume a lot of chocolate every day but, we do know a little Chocolate Drizzle Kettle Corn never hurt anybody!
